Chiropractic Care Helps Benefit Children

The Subtle Signs of Hidden Neurological Stress Parents Should Watch For……

  • Sleep challenges: Difficulty falling or staying asleep, restless sleep, or only sleeping when held or in motion – these aren’t just “normal baby things” but potential indicators of nervous system dysfunction.
  • Feeding difficulties: Poor latch, excessive spitting up, or becoming easily distracted during feeds can all stem from neurological stress.
  • Digestive issues: Constipation, excessive gas, or signs of colic (excessive crying for more than three hours a day, three days a week) often indicate vagus nerve dysfunction.
  • Physical asymmetries: Preference for turning the head to one side or flattening on one side of the head can signal neurological imbalance.
  • Sensory sensitivity: Heightened startle reflex, excessive irritability in stimulating environments, or difficulty calming when overstimulated are all red flags for nervous system stress.

Asthma

Eighty-one children were assessed before and two months after chiropractic care using an asthma impairment questionnaire. Improvements were reported for 90.1% of subjects 60 days after chiropractic care in comparison to their pre-chiropractic scores. In addition, 30.9% of the children voluntarily decreased their dosage of medication by an average of 66.5% while under chiropractic care.

Colic

In this study, 316 infants (median age 5.7 weeks) with moderate to severe colic (average 5.2 hours of crying per day) were treated with chiropractic care. Mothers kept track of the baby’s symptoms, intensity and length of the colicky crying, as well as the comfort of the infant. 94% of the children within 14 days of chiropractic care showed a satisfactory response. One fourth of these infants showed great improvement after the very first chiropractic adjustment. Note: 51% of the infants had undergone prior unsuccessful treatment, usually drug therapy.

Ear Infections

A study of forty-six children aged 5 years and under received chiropractic care for ear infections. Results showed that 93% of all episodes improved, 75% in 10 days or fewer, and 43% with only one or two treatments. Improvement included that the child had no fever, no signs of ear pain, and was totally asymptomatic.

Acid Reflux

A case study of a 3-month old girl was provided with chiropractic care for medically-diagnosed GERD. Within four patient visits the patient had a reduction in frequency of vomiting, improved breast feeding, decreased generalized muscle rigidity, and decreased high-pitched and frequency of crying. She had total resolution of symptoms within approximately three months of care.

Bedwetting

A case study of a five year old female who had been wetting her bed for six months. She was prescribed antibiotics for what MDs diagnosed as a bladder infection.
