The holiday season can be full of stress, travel, and more indulgent meals. To ease the holiday hustle:

  • Rest and Recharge: Take short breaks when possible. Aim for a quick power nap or sit in a quiet space for a few minutes to reset.
  • Hydrate & Nourish: Drinking plenty of water is essential in this cold dry season. Enjoy nourishing meals that are full of healthy fats, lean proteins, and vegetables to maintain energy levels.
  • Incorporate Gentle Stretching: If you’re dealing with back pain or swelling, gentle stretches and light movements can work wonders. Ask Dr. Desiree about safe exercises!

Recipe of the Month: Cozy & Nutritious Sweet Potato Soup

This month, we’re sharing a recipe that’s not only delicious but also nourishing for both you and your family. This recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner or to warm you up on a chilly afternoon.

Sweet Potato & Coconut Soup

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 can coconut milk (full fat for creaminess)
  • 3 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until soft.
  2. Add diced sweet potatoes, turmeric, ginger, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the sweet potatoes.
  3. Pour in vegetable broth and coconut milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let cook for 20-25 minutes or until sweet potatoes are tender.
  4. Use an immersion blender (or regular blender) to blend the soup until smooth and creamy.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and enjoy!

This soup is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats, making it a perfect choice for families—whether you’re preparing for baby or just want a cozy meal to share.
